welcome to Thrifty Gal

Thrifty…as in thrive

Did you know the word thrifty comes from the word thrive?

I used to think of thrifty as scrimping, being a tightwad, being more concerned about the cost of things than the value of things.

But way back, a thrifty lifestyle was a thriving lifestyle. A thrifty person was prosperous, growing vigorously, by industry and frugality (according to Merriam-Webster).

Upcycling and repurposing old stuff is my favorite part of a living a thrifty life! Upcycling is good for our bank accounts, our planet, and ourselves.

Making the most of what we have gives secondhand “junk” a new lease on life helps us reduce waste, spend less, save more, be active, and be creative.

In addition to upcycling & repurposing projects, I’ll be sharing other things I’m doing:

  • making small steps every day to live a more Earth-friendly life (it really does make a difference);

  • spending less and saving more (so I can buy a house with a yard! What are YOU saving for?);

  • being more creative, artsy and resourceful every day (like my Mom and Grandma Lucille!);

  • eating healthier and being more active (to live a long, active, fun life!)

I’ll post new ideas, pictures and projects every week, so I hope you’ll visit often or sign up for my weekly emails.

Let’s Thrive Together,

Nancy
